First of all, I would like to thank you for letting me join this blog in order to share my version of My Lady's Quaker.

After seeing this piece on a fellow blogger's site, I immediately fell in love with it. I finally got the notion to purchase my pattern. I started this piece on February 28, 2010. My version is on 40ct Vintage Meadow Rue by Lakeside Linen. I am a silk snob (sorry DMC users!) so I changed the colors to Belle Soie's Rose of Sharon, Chocolat, Elegant Eggplant and Fern Frond. I'm not too sure about the Fern Frond, but it is growing on me.

Normally I'm a pretty fast stitcher, but this is my busy time of year at work. So, I lack for stitching time on most nights. Here is where I stopped on the weekend of the 13th and 14th of March with a good dash of time thrown in on the 16th as well......

Of course, in the craziness of my busy season I didn't realize that the piece of fabric I chose wasn't big enough. I hate it when that happens! So, I decided to leave off the alphabet on the bottom. I guess it just wasn't meant to be!

I didn't get much in this weekend, but I'm planning on taking off a little early tonight to that I can put needle to fabric. I tend to get a little grumpy when I can't stitch! Hopefully after tonight My Lady will be a little farther than it is right now.

I decided I needed to finish this before the year end and spent the last two days stitching. I decided to leave the alphabet off...just couldn't stitch anymore. I lost interest in the piece I thing because of all the unintentional "alterations" I made to the original design (i.e. mistakes I was too lazy to rip out!) I do like the end result with the colors and hope to hang in my bedroom once framed.

Well it is Christmas Eve and I am back to working on mine! lol I had to put it down while I worked on a few exchanges. I am all caught up with them for now so I started back last night.

I had to come onto the blog to see what colors I was using as I forgot to write them down :(

I had started mine and just wasn't liking the color combination as much on the fabric as they looked together off of the fabric. I really like how Irma's turned out with the Belle Soie colors. I picked up the 3 colors and will re-start in January.

I finished my Lady last Friday. I'm really happy with how she turned out. I've decided not to stitch the Gentleman for now as I started 'Quakers & Quilts' this week-end. Thanks Petra & Amy for organizing this SAL, this was a great design. Mine was stitched on 40-ct Lakeside Linen with Needlepoint Silks.

Wel, l I am proud to say that I am 3/4 of the way finished with the Gentleman, however a bit of a tragedy has befallen him, well me, I ran out of my "brown" and cannot find where I wrote down the DMC color! I have searched everywhere, and sadly as I recalled posting my color list here, I changed them along the way and never noted the new numbers. I even made the choice to purchase my floss at Michael's instead of online so I don't even have a record of the purchase, oh dearie me!

How do you all keep track of your project history, such as the fiber and floss that you use along with a certain pattern?

I know I will figure out the missing color as I have narrowed it down, but for the time being my stomach knot has tightened.

On a happy note, I must say that everyone's progress and finishes are fantastic! You are all so very talented, and you all inspire me :)

Sorry for the rant, I hope no one minds, but I figured you all would be able to relate :)

I got My Lady's Quaker finished last night! I'm very happy with how it turned out!

I ended up changing the skin color again - three times a charm right? I went with NPI 202. For a list of the other colors I used click on my name below and that will take you to my other posts. I had fun stitching along with you all! I don't plan to stitch the gentleman, so it looks like I'm done with the SAL. Good luck to all of you! :)

I have been bad about getting anything posted here. I started in mid-September but I was concentrating on finishing my Beatrix Potter Quaker sampler by end of September so I didn't have much time for my poor Quaker Lady. I am trying to make more progress now. I can't believe how fast some of you have finished this project - I have so many projects going I am like a bee going from flower to flower LOL. I am stitching this on 40-ct linen and I seem to be slower stitching on it as I have to be more careful placing my stitches for some reason.

I am loving seeing all of the other color combinations you all have been stitching. Congratulations all!

A Start On A Gentleman

I started "A Gentleman" this weekend, and here is my progress. I chose to work him in the exact same fabric and colors as my Lady. I had a real hard time deciding on the color combination for his clothes, but this is what I ended up with....as it coordinated well with The Lady's dress.

I am enjoying working on him as much as the Lady, what a great artist Nathalie is.

I have been watching this pattern progress from the day I first saw it! I fell in love with it that day, but waited to order. I then went to my son & DIL's house for 10 days, to help my DIL care for their infant triplets. I got home Sat. evening & got caught up around here over the weekend.

I finished her up this afternoon & I'm very happy with how she turned out. In case anyone is interested in the colors, this is what I used: GAST Cinnamon, Dungarees, Grape Leaf, Crabapple (Limited Edition color), WDW Red Pear & WDW Peach Fuzz (for her arms, face & legs). It's stitched on 32 ct. Antique Ivory Belfast. As you can see, I changed the ABC to my initials & left off the alphabet. I can't wait to get a frame and get her on the wall! It was a fun & fairly quick stitch!!

Yes, often "J" and "U" were missing on old samplers. "I" and "V" were used instead. You might enjoy reading this article about the "missing" letters.

Hi ~ My name is Lenna.

I am new here I joined Sunday night.

I downloaded my charts and started stitching.

I got the lady stitched yesterday.

I did have to frog part of her skirt outline,

one hand and part of her face

but she is done.

I still have to stitch the flowers in the skirt

and two green areas, also.

I will try and add a photo tonight.

She has been so much fun to stitch.

I plan to stitch the cat

on this one

and the dog on the gentleman's!

I used a hand dyed premium floss. It is thicker

and you only use one strand.

I am using a fabric

I got when Hobby Lobby deleted it.

I bought 2 yards and it came on the bolt.

I have used it for years and it is one of my

favorites.

It is sorta a light beige, grey even weave.

I will list my fibers tonight with the picture.

This is my first post. I've been trying to find the right lighting to show off my wonderful linen, but, alas, I guess I'll just have to describe it.....It's called "Grape Icicle." I just love the feel! So soft - no "starch" to it. Imagine when you were a Kid, at a carnival..... it's the same color as "grape" cotton candy!

I'm using WDW Molases, Waterlillies Jade, Au Ver Soie Purple, and GAST Flax so far. I'm thinking that I'll use some sort of "varigated" iris color for The Lady's dress. What do you think? Too many colors?

Here is as far as I have gotten on the SAL. I have a few other commitments to work on but had s little time while waiting for fabric for them. Now my fabric is here so I will have to put this down for a little bit.

I don't know why the linen appears splotchy....it isn't in reality.

I don't think that I am going to stitch the alphabet...am not sure what I'll be about the "ABC" on the far left: stitch it, replace it with my initials, or stitch a small motif there.

Hello! Well, I've made a little progress on My Lady! I am enjoying this project so much. And, I'm really enjoying seeing all of your pieces! I love all the colors and variations that everyone is using. It's also so neat to see where everyone starts their projects!

I tried to take a closer picture so you could the second, lighter color I've chosen. I hope it "pops" more once I get some of the darker color in there with it.

I am so impressed by everyone's gorgeous variations of the same pattern, it's like being in a restaurant and seeing how wonderful all the plates that go by you look, waiting for your own dinner to arrive. :)

I am happy with my colors, as I switched them up a bit and added mauve, so now they go nicely with the colors in my home.

Here is a pic of my fabric 32 count Belfast - in Lavender Bliss. My threads are DMC black, Wildflowers - color Iris, Anchor 102 and DMC variations 4045. I think I may need a few more colors but I don't have my pattern yet. I may not use the black I will have to see. I can't start on this until my pattern gets here, so I will just watch everyone's progress until then. I love all the variety so far, can hardly wait to join all of you.

Well...I finally started last night. After much indecision over the thread colors, I chose form over fashion and went with colors that will go in my bedroom, the future home for this beauty. I was all ready to use a pink/green combo until y'all posted the My Gentleman's Quaker. I just know I will have to stitch it and I don't think those are his colors.

I love everyone's colors and can't wait to see your progress! So far...I am loving this stitch and actually like the two colors I chose. Happy stitches.

I am late to this group. I just found it yesterday and I have received my chart, ordered my fabric and am now going to figure out my colors. Fabric should be here in a couple of days so I can get a start. I have 1 model for the shop to get finished and a piece for GhostStitchers so I am not sure if I will be able to get caught up. Also it looks like it's I am going to be called back to work in the next week or so. Ready to go for money reasons but it's been 7 months of being home and stitching my days away so it's kinda bittersweet going back. Can't wait to look thru my floss and see what I decide on. I am going to stitch on 36 count cream.

Meredith's (small) Start

Hello! Well, I had a small start last night and today. After looking at all the beautiful pictures of this pattern on the designers page and seeing all of your amazing color choices I decided to go with just two colors. (The idea of converting this pattern to 5 colors from 2 was very overwhelming to me - I'm a whimp that way :-) I am using DMC 315 which is one of the designers suggested colors and 3727 which I just liked with it. These colors are a little bit different then the usual palette I would choose but my 6 year old daughter helped me pick them out and I am really drawn to them.

So, here's my small start.

I hope to get to work on her more tonight. Everyone's starts are super! Thanks Amy and Petra for organizing this SAL for us! It's so much fun to be a part of it!

First, I would like to thank Petra & Amy for putting this altogether for us! And for introducing me to this Quaker. I started mine last night after finally deciding on fabric, 27 ct Cream Northern Cross linen. It really isn't gray. I am using DMC 924(pictured) and 926. The colors are way off. So I finally figured out what colors I am using and did manage to start stitching :) I am in the middle of a few commitments so I will try and stitch on this as much as possible.

I decided to go with DMC 3851, 3771,470,3825 ,3828 and I may add in 3855. I will see how it goes. My fabric is 28ct Antique White.

I stitched some of the green in her skirt & then went to add the lighter shade of "peach" & it didn't show up on my fabric (32 ct Antique Ivory) AT ALL. I then spent the next hour trying several different shades of threads & didn't like most of them. :-( I ended up using WDW Red Pear for the lighter shade & GAST Baked Apple for the darker. I haven't done any of the blue or brown, but I think it will be fine now. I am also going to use a "peach tone" for her skin, possibly CC Rosy Glow, we'll see. Here is a pic of my big start....

Hopefully it will be okay with the other colors... we'll see tonight!

Debby's My Lady's Quaker

Here is what I have done so far on My Lady's Quaker. I have to admit, I did start about a week ago, but I only finished up the dress last night. It is going to be fun seeing everyone's progress. I hope to get a little more stitching done today.

I want to share the colors I am using. I ended up changing from my first post. I am using NPI Silks on this. I have # 222 for the skin. I am using 223, 208, 904, 528 and 355. I didn't know what to use for the centers of the red flowers so my dh told me I should try 1 strand of 355 and 1 of 474 together for those. Kind of an experiment, but I think it added a little color like I have seen in flowers. I want to thank you all for your kind words on My Lady's Quaker!!!

I am so excited, I have chosen my fabric and my floss, and I am ready to begin stitching.

I am using fabric and floss from my stash, and will be stitching on 32 count Antique White Belfast Linen, using the following DMC floss: #754, #895, #826, #355, #301. I love Amy's layout of how she will use her colors, so I am going to follow that...I hope that's alright :)

Well, I must admit, I cheated and started on Sunday night, as I was lost as what I wanted to work on. I am doing my piece in 2 colors - purple and teal - on confederate gray 32 ct. linen. I have almost all the purple done in my lady and will now start stitching with the teal. I must get a picture at some point and post it.

Even though I know the SAL doesn't "officially" start until tomorrow, I went on and got started on my lady since I had a long weekend. She is such a fun stitch!

I need to go back and frog a bit on her shoe. I clearly wasn't thinking and/or playing attention when I was stitching. I realized when I went to take the photo that I stitched her leg in the shoe color and not the flesh color. LOL

I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to stitch the small half medallion next to her or if I'm going to stitch the cat & mouse. After purchasing the matching Gentleman, I'm leaning more toward the cat & mouse now to have it coordinate better with the dog on the other design.

Hello! I'm Meredith from NJ and I am excited to start this SAL tomorrow! Thank you all for sharing your wonderful ideas/color choices. I have a lot to do today to get ready for that first x tomorrow! I need to figure out what size fabric I need and cut it from a piece of 36 x 27 32 count Lambswool that I had in my stash. Then need to do my running stitch all around it... I am going with Moniques and some of your color way...but I'm a little concerned that the 945 and 3774 are blending into my fabric just a little too much. I think I'm going to hunt around in my DMC for some slightly darker colors for those. Oh, yeah, I also need to print the pattern!! :-)

So, excited to start this piece with all of you tomorrow! Looking forward to seeing everyone's pieces progress.

Ann's Floss Toss

I'll be stitching on Vikki Clayton's undyed linen (35 count) using a variation of Monique's color scheme.

I've added DMC 400 (her hair), 310 (the cat) and 453 (the mouse). In addition, I've substituted DMC 356 for the 407 because I don't have any 407 in the house and I'm trying to use up as much stash as I can!

Hello everyone! My name is Irma. I live in San Diego, California and just a month ago I had NO clue what a SAL was.

I have been out of the cross stitch loop for a while and though I had been reading other craft blogs,I had yet to discover a cross stitch blog. Well, I finally did and here I am. And...I now know what a SAL is!

So, this is my very first SAL and what a cute one too! I love her and am excited to join in on the fun and get motivated to cross stitch more.

I decided I really liked Danieles version. So I went with a variation of her color scheme.

Belle Soie: Noir, Plush Plum, Attic Tea, Strawberry Shortcake.

Fabric is: 36 Ct. Edinburgh-Ant. White

Looking forward to seeing everyones progress.

Hi everyone! I just signed up for the SAL. I'm very excited about it as I love not only the Lady, but her Gentleman as well. I've already purchased both charts and have pulled my fibers. Here is a photo I took of my toss. It's a bit dark because I took it very late last night.

My fabric is just a basic piece of Antique White 36-count linen from Zweigart. My fibers are DMC using Monique's colorway. I did opt to go with a slightly darker flesh color than she used. Both are shown in the photo. The paler color is the 3774 she used. The slighter darker color is DMC 945 which I choose to use. Since I'm stitching her 1-over-2, I thought the 3774 was just a bit too pale on my fabric.

Since I recently started a new rotation plan, I'll only be working my my Lady periodically. In fact, I'm having to reorganize my rotation to actually include her now. LOL I did start on her last night and got a few of the small motifs in her skirt done. I'm looking forward to working on her again tonight. :)

Good morning, everyone!

My name is Ann, and I am so happy to join this SAL (even though I had promised myself no new starts until 3 WIPs were finished) with all of you. I saw My Lady's Quaker this morning on Nicole's blog and rushed right over to Jardin Prive to order it--and also the companion piece, the Gentleman Quaker.

I've enjoyed looking at the various color combinations you're all choosing--I'm leaning toward Monique's color choices, but I'm wondering if she's stitching the Gentleman Quaker and if so, what colors she'll use. I'm planning on hanging them together so I want to be certain that my colors are complimentary.

Looks like I'll be doing a floss toss this weekend so that I can be ready to start stitching on September 1!

edited to add: I'll be making a slight change in the chart for My Lady's Quaker. On the lower left hand side I'm going to remove the half-motif next to her skirt and instead I'll substitute a black cat and whatever else I need to fill in the space. I'm going to stitch the 'dog' version of Gentleman Quaker, so I think she needs a cat! And besides, I have black cats so it's a great touch of personalization, too.

Hi from NJ. Amy thanks for creating this blog because without your help I'd still be lost trying to figure out it's setup. Livejournal seems so much easier to set up, but then I guess it depends on what one is used to. OK - so color selection. I've chosen the same threads as Amy, but on 32 ct Lakeside Linen Magnolia. I can't wait to start on 9/01. I might cheat and start earlier though. I read an update on our blog there's a new make version, I'll have to go look that up in a second, but how cool is this? Choosing My colors

I really love the colors Daniele did on hers and would love to use them. They are silks so I am not sure yet if I will get them. Maybe I will try and pick something similar in DMC . I also love the color she use for her fabric but I can't figure out what she said she used. When I translate her blog it says " The canvas is a 16 Permin son, and embroidery petit point" I am guessing she stitched over 1 on whatever she used lol But what color is it?? Any help would be appreciated.

I will order my pattern on Wednesday as that is when payday is here. Hopefully by then I will have decided on silks or not :)

I am really looking forwar to seeing everyone piece and starting mine .

Missy's Floss Palette

I decided after many, many floss tosses to finally go with my standard DMC choice. I say standard because I have 3 finished designs in my bedroom using these exact colors so seeing that this Lady Quaker will go in my bedroom above my desk I decided to keep the colors all in the family.

I will be stitching her on Antique White Linen. Hmmmm... that blue is showing much brighter than it looks in person but you get the picture!! :)

Hi, I am Debby (StitchWizard) and I am so happy to be joining in on the SAL with everyone! My Lady's Quaker is such a beautiful pattern and I have finally chosen my colors for this project. I am stitching mine on 40 ct. Sandstone linen. I decided that I too love the NPI Silks as I am using them on two other projects and I just love them. My colors for My Lady's Quaker are NPI 222, 223, 344, 528, and 904. I haven't started yet but am hopeful that I will like them. I think everyone has made such pretty selections and mine is similar to some of them here with a slight variation. I am looking forward to getting started. I am going to love seeing everyone's progress and the different looks that we all are doing here.

Well, I decided not to go with the Belle Soie after all. I stitched a little bit of the Rosebud and Noir, and although it was pretty, it just wasn't me. I decided I was going to go with some of the colors that Amy was using.

I was going to use WDW Baked Apple, WDW Red Pear (not pictured), CC Rosy Glow, GA Dungarees, and GA Grape Leaf. But then Jeanne post her picture of the NPI she was using. It was like a light bulb went off. Why didn't I think of using NPI before?? I wrote down the colors she used and went through my NPI stash. I had some of them, but not all.

I ended up going with 223, 222, 706, 344, 923 and 903. The linen I'm using is 40 ct. Vintage Lt. Examplar. I'm loving it so far!! :) I have also decided not to do the alphabet on the bottom. I'm just going to do the top part of the design. Looking forward to seeing everyone's start!! :)

I believe i am going to stitch her with Belle Soie Noir and Peacock. I love the peacock color and i think this would be a good time to use it, but we shall see. I still need to go get my fabric and threads next weekend at the shop so i can pick out the perfect fabric as well.

Monique's DMC choices, and my floss toss

I left a comment on Monique's blog asking her what she used on her Quaker Lady which some of us liked so much. She responded that she used DMC in these colors in case anyone wants to know: 612 (brown), 407 & 3774 (peach/coral), 3364 (green) and 926 (blue).

Here is my similar conversion tossed on Lakeside Linen's 40-ct Vintage Sand Dune. I used Needlepoint Silks 532 and 532A, 322, 344, and 903. I have a bit of something in a pale flesh tone I'll be using for the lady's arms and face.

I've had some arthritis flareup in my hands this week but hope to start soon. Thanks Amy & Petra for organizing this!

Hi Everyone!

Amy convinced me to join the SAL! She knows I'm an easy target! I'm a sucker for a SAL! :)

Anyway, I'm trying to decide on colors. I have three sets of Belle Soie picked out. Old Crow and Rouge, Mer Bleu and Petticoat Blue, and Noir and Rosebud. Amy says she likes Noir and Rosebud. I think I may be leaning towards that one, but I haven't decided yet!

What do you all think?? :)

The fabric is 32 ct Antique Ivory Belfast & the threads are:
WDW Peach Fuzz (lightest peach for her face, arms, the light color in the "flowers", etc)
GAST Copper (darker flower/letter color)
GAST Grape Leaf (all the green)
GAST Dungarees (all the blue)
GAST Cinnamon (all the brown)

As you can see, I tired to match what Monique done somewhat as I really love this one. We'll see how my choices go. Someone said they wanted to do the same, and if anyone wants to use my color choices, feel free, I don't mind at all! :-)

Now to finish some other things before I start it... ;-)
